Sophos Firewall: v19.0 MR1: Feedback and experiences

In previous faulty versions I used to see SASI lines in the e-mail messages.

There does not appear to be any mail being blocked by the XG, most the spam is being picked up by the firewall add header rule settings and MAC mail moving the item to the junk folder.

Investigating logviewer -> tab I can see messages I have forwarded but the original does not show. This issue occurred in a previous version v19.

Hello, I've seen messages about antispam detections not being really good since a change done somewhere in v18, which should have been fixed in v18MR4 and v19mr1 IIRC...

Has anyone verified this?

Next morning, looking at the Live CPU & Memory widget (covers the last two hours) yields: Max 70.48% || Avg 69.7%. Which is still significantly below what I'd experienced in v18.5 and especially v19 GA which had me worried because it was averaging higher. This is on an XGS-87, which is the smallest appliance.

I really appreciate, Sophos has listened to our voices and implemented this opt-out. Allows us to delete manual block rules we created for disallowing this communication. Prism, did you check the logs that there is no traffic to whatfix and the other URL usersnap?

should be still bad in v18.5 MR4 from what I've read but I've also seen in the release notes that they fixed bad spam detection in 19 MR1. Not sure if this is true in the real mail world. Dreamcatcher had many complaints about that - maybe she/he can confirm its working better now?

I've installed 19 MR1 this morning, need to give it about a week to see if it really changes anything.

It doesn't initiate any connections to whatfix anymore. But there's still two connections to usersnap which downloads two js files and execute them. (It's used for the feedback function.)

so this has only been opt-out half way.

this may happen when you picked the wrong update package. there are XGS and XG versions - built for other hardware.

edit: but you used the virtual machine update package for your VM - should be fine.
