  • Installed and changed the notification settings. Some notifications have worked all the time even with the box unticked. Next test is of course for login failure.

  • Login failure - no notification. Must be another setting somewhere?

  • This should not be covered by this Thread. Login Notifications should always work and was not item in any fixes. Better to open a new Thread to get a clear troubleshooting.

  • Thanks LuCar Toni.  Appreciated as usual.

    MR8 Installed up and running.

    Logs works for now.

DHCP works as well.  New method.

Stass is still questionable.  Only few users are log.

Backup via e-mail, much like the previous 3 or 4 upgrades worked once or twice, then dead again on all but one appliance.

  • Actually, do you have a Support case for each issue?

I would highly suggest to open some case.

     can track those cases.

  • This is promising. I didn't see any mention though of these fixes in the release notes I wonder why they started working for you now?

  • Hello LuCar

No I did not open a case.  I have toasted too many hours on simple issues that never got resolved in the end.  Meaning hundreds of hours.  In 2015, 2016, 2017.  I finally gave up.

The way I work now is if a task does not work on XG, it is moved to another appliance.  And will not come back.

    1. So Mail Gateway was moved to Symantec appliance.  Setup, up and running in few hours.  Very easy management and reporting is second to none.  And predictable.
    2. HTTPS/WEB filtering to Symantec Cloud mostly. Was tired to tell XG that www.intel.com was not a risky download web site.  Was tired to try to figure out how to let Google Chrome update.  Was tired to figure out why WSUS was failling.   Sophos categorization is just a faillure.  Horribly complicated and time consuming.  Also, that Symantec service was setup within an hour.
    3. Still some Sophos End points.  Which will be moved to Symantec Cloud early next year.
    4. NTP/DHCP was given to Cisco appliances (switches or routers actually.  Because routes on XG is a serious pain.)

So our XG were scaled down to almost an empty shell doing very basic and legacy firewall functions.  Migrating to another platform will be easy.  For a change.

I'm simply too exausted paying for being Sophos' beta tester.  For now, it is simply NOT enterprise ready and still a wannabe.

Clearly we are phasing out Sophos.  I will keep one at home as a follow up and see what happen in three years.  If I can find a dirt cheap XG135W on EBay.  Because anything below is too slow, and should not exist.  Also, we never know, maybe XG18 will exist in 2022.
