User creation from Portal creates a user account with email addresse name (containing blanks) ?

Hi,

i migrated from UTM to XG this week and i have some problems with AD integration.
I imported the AD Groups Mitarbeiter and all is fine.

I know that a user can logon to the user portal even if the user does not exist.
SG 17.5 get´s the Data from AD and creates the user.

My mail is in this format surname.name@company.de and the domain is dc=company,dc=local,dc=de

If i logon with mit NetBios account surname name  a new user is created.

User name "surname name@company.local.de"
There is a bank inside the username!

Descriptive name is "surname name@company.local.de"

Is the domain behind the name normal or by design?
I would have expected that the surname and name will be used for user creation.

How can i autofill the Email setting for the new user?

  • It clearly depends on the AD configuration and the authentication server configuration. 

    As mentioned earlier: What do you use in the "domain name" part in XG Authentication server configuration? 

    And do you use multiple different AD Server with different configuration on XG? 

    Can you show us a screenshot of your config?

  • I see, if i change the domain name to local.de the login user will be "surname name@local.de"

    Wouldn´t it be better to use a FQDN for user portal login like "surname.name@company.de" as a login and verifiy to the AD?

    surname name
    password

    in the user portal, but not with surname.name@company.de or surname.name@company.local.de"

    the user tab in XG shows

    user name "surname name@company.local.de"
    Name "surname name"

    email "surname.name@company.de"

    so the email and displayname is read correct, but the username is strange.

  • So lets wrap up here.

    The email part: surname.name@company.de will not work. It is not build to login in any facility. The Email Field in XG is for the email component (MTA etc.) 

     

    You should be able to login with:

    surename.name 

    surename.name@company.local.de 

     

    The blank in your user seems to be, because your SAMAccountname has an blank. Is this true? Can you please verify this statement in your AD? 

    Next question is, what happens, if you delete the user in XG and recreate him with another approach to authenticate? 

     

    Most likely i would assume the point about your SAMAccountname. This seems to have a blank space in it.

    SAMAccountname has a blank "surname name" and blanks are allowed.
    So this is all by design ... OK, we need to live with that ..
