Now the forum posts are moderator approved? Really?

Why oh why did this happen?  Is the forum postings now hurting someone's feelings or something?  I just replied to a new post and was told the post had to be 'approved'.

If that is the case, well then it was fun but I'm out.  Ridiculous.

  • I would suggest that the 100% accuracy is not the point being made. I would also suggest telling a forum member to calm down is not likely to make them.

I'm not so dead set against forum moderation as it does help keep trolls to a minimum. However, there appear to be some UI related issues with the way the auto-moderation system works. Looks to be a timing issue, if you try to edit a post too soon and the moderation system is still doing its thang (either the bot-moderator or homo-moderator) that causes the moderation warning to pop up and all your lovely editing/posting to be lost.

  • Yeah, I've had some edits and posts of mine disappear into the ether as well. I've gotten used to doing a copy before submitting, just in case. The Community forums are still a work in progress, but baby steps forward as slowly coming.

  • Just to add an observation that if you reply to your own post (subsequently) it will also go to the moderation.
  • It will only go in to moderation if the original post has already been approved, from moderation. However, it appears that, posts will appear as regular posts to the original poster, until they are moderated. i.e. There is no way for the original poster to distinguish that their post is being moderated.

The only problem with this is that trying to edit or reply to a post, that is being moderated will lose the edit/reply when the "post is being moderated" error is displayed.
